Lingsma electric upright bass - tailpiece

redefined Tailpiece

A design demand for this bass is that you should be able to use regular strings designed for acoustic upright basses. The problem here, is that these strings have a long length between bridge and tailpiece. This is why the strings are bent inside a U shaped string holder. The string holders are placed on a rod with a low friction ring in the middle where the aramid cable ‘starts’.

Lingsma electric upright bass - a cable runs from the tailpiece towards another ring that is held between the carbon reinforced tips of the upper layer’s two slats

The cable runs towards another ring that is held between the carbon reinforced tips of the upper layer’s two slats. This ring forms a free floating hinge, to minimize damping.
